Overview

Brand-new loaded cylinder head for the Cummins ISB 6.7L 24-valve diesel - a complete assembly that seals the combustion chamber and carries the valves, springs, injectors and rocker assembly on these engines. This is the 6.7 head, four valves per cylinder, built for the high-pressure common rail fuel system and CP3 pump that came in with the 6.7 platform in mid-2007. One casting covers all six cylinders, so a complete engine takes just one. It ships fully assembled with the valvetrain installed and the valves lapped, so there is no machine shop time before you bolt it on.

Includes: Valves, valve springs, valve retainers, keepers and valve stem seals - all installed, with the valves lapped so they are ready to seal.

Fitment

Why It's Better

  • Brand-new casting - a new head with no heat-cycle history, never welded, never re-decked and with no repaired cracks
  • Complete new valvetrain - valves, springs, retainers, keepers and valve stem seals installed, with the valves lapped so they are ready to seal
  • Machined for the 6.7 platform - injector bores, coolant passages and deck surface cut for the 107 mm bore and the 6.7 rocker box, not a universal casting
  • Pressure tested and vacuum checked, with the deck and manifold faces machined flat for a clean gasket seal

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this the 6.7 head or the 5.9 head?
It is the 6.7 head, machined and sold for the ISB, ISDe and QSB 6.7 from 2007.5 to 2015. If your engine is a 5.9, order the head listed for your displacement instead - the 5.9 platform (12-valve 1989-1998, VP44 24-valve 1998.5-2002 and common rail 24-valve 2003-2007) uses a different head gasket and its own head listings. It also does not fit the 2019 and later 6.7, which moved to a redesigned head with hydraulic lifters.

Q: Will it fit a 2016, 2017 or 2018 truck?
Send us your engine serial number and CPL before ordering and we will confirm it. The same head casting was used across many 6.7 ratings through 2018, but CPL and emissions configuration changed over those years, so we check each one against the engine dataplate rather than the model year.

Q: How do I confirm it fits my engine?
Compare the number cast into your original head against the casting number and Replaces list above, or send us your engine serial number and CPL number and we will verify the arrangement before shipping. The 6.7 ISB was built in many ratings and CPL configurations, so the serial number is the fastest way to confirm.

Q: How many do I need?
One. This is a single one-piece head that covers all six cylinders, so a complete engine takes just 1 cylinder head.

Q: What equipment does this cylinder head fit?
It fits Ram 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 pickups and chassis cabs from 2007.5 to 2015. On the vocational side it fits Ford F-650 and F-750 medium duty trucks (2008-2015), fits Freightliner M2 106, 108SD, B2, MT45 and MT55 chassis, fits International 4300, 4300LP, 7300, DuraStar and WorkStar models from 2014 on, fits Blue Bird Vision and All American school buses and fits Thomas Built Saf-T-Liner school buses. It also fits generator sets, irrigation pumps, loaders and excavators powered by the 6.7 ISB or QSB.

Q: Can I reuse my original head bolts?
No - the 6.7 uses torque-to-yield bolts and they are single-use. Fit a new set and a new head gasket, and follow the multi-step torque-plus-angle procedure in the factory service manual for your engine serial number. Note that the 6.7 uses both long and short head bolts and they do not all get the same final step, so do not use a single figure for the whole set.
