T04B38 Turbocharger for John Deere 6059T 6068T 6359T

$461.00

Direct-fit T04B38 turbocharger for John Deere 6059T, 6068T, 6359T and 6414T diesels - the unit that feeds boost to the 444 and 544 loaders, the 643 and 670 graders, the 690D excavator and the 3255 and 4050 tractors. New assembly, mounting gaskets included.

The turbo does one job on these six-cylinders: it packs the intake charge so a 359 ci block pulls a loaded bucket and a 414 ci block holds swing speed in a digging cycle, and keeps that pressure steady as the load swings. When the original wears - shaft play at the nut, oil past the seals, a wheel that has rubbed its housing - the machine smokes under load and power falls away. This is a new T04B38 built to 466334-9010, the unit that carries RE62773 and the numbers it superseded. One turbo per engine.

Includes: one T04B38 turbocharger assembly with mounting gaskets.

Fitment

Engine Model Engine Years
Fits John Deere 6059T (5.9L, 106 x 110 mm) 1985-2000
Fits John Deere 6359T (5.9L, 106 x 110 mm) 1983-1995
Fits John Deere 6068T (6.8L, 106.5 x 127 mm) 1985-2000
Fits John Deere 6414T (6.8L, 106.5 x 127 mm) 1983-1995

The same four engines power the 3255 (1991-1993) and the 4050 (1983-1988, with the 6359T) tractors, the 444C, 444CH, 444D, 544D, 544E, 570B and 624G loaders, the 643D, 653E, 655B, 670B and 672B graders, the 690D, 690DR and 693D excavators, the 750B and 755B dozers and the 710D backhoe - serial windows apply, see the check below.

Does not fit: the 6466D 7.6L engine offered in the 4050, which takes a larger turbo; the four-cylinder 3029, 3179, 4039, 4045 and 4239 diesels, which take the TA3401 builds of this same Garrett family; the naturally aspirated 6059D and 6359D, which carry no turbocharger; and the electronic Tier 3 engines from the late 2000s on. Send us your engine serial number and the number off your old turbo's plate and we will confirm before shipping.

Check yours before you order. The plate on your old turbo settles it faster than the model on the machine. 1. Read the plate on the compressor housing - 466334-0010, 466334-0018 or 466334-9010, model T04B38, is this unit. If it reads 466980 (TA3403) or 466334-9005S (TA3401), that is a different build for the same engine family - send a photo first. 2. Check the engine build code stamped on the block: 6501 on the 6359T and the 655B, 670B, 672B, 750B and 755B listed here. 3. Serial windows apply: 544D and 6414 from engine serial 148515, 643D from 474690, 624G from 499720, 710D from 546898 - machines built before those serials take an earlier build.

Why It's Better

  • New castings, new rotating assembly. Housings, cartridge and wheels are new - not a rebuilt core dropped into a forty-year-old housing.
  • Balanced as an assembly. Shaft and wheel set are balanced as one rotating unit before they go into the bearing housing, which keeps the bearings quiet at rated speed under load.
  • Built to the T04B38 build code. Fixed A/R turbine housing matched to the fuel setting these mechanical engines shipped with, so it bolts up without touching the pump.
  • Bolts on without machining. Oil feed and drain land in the factory positions and the compressor outlet meets the original charge pipe - mounting gaskets in the box.

FAQ

How do I know this is the right turbo for my machine?
Match the plate on your old turbo, not the badge on the machine. A plate reading 466334-0010, 466334-0018 or 466334-9010, model T04B38, is this unit. Then confirm the engine build code on the block and, on 544D, 624G, 643D, 6414 and 710D, that your engine serial sits inside the window listed above. If the plate is unreadable, send a photo of it with the machine model and serial.

What is the difference between 466334-0010, 466334-0018 and 466334-9010?
Successive builds of the same T04B38 unit: the 0010 and 0018 came first and the 90-series numbers superseded them, 466334-9010 being the current service number. The RE numbers - RE62773, RE26123, RE26119, RE32204, RE22268 - and the AR numbers AR73796 and AR69583 are the engine-side numbers for the same assembly, so any of them points at this turbo.

My engine is a 6068T - why do other listings show a different turbo for the same engine?
The same engine family was built under several turbo programmes: the 466980 family (TA3403) and other 466334 builds (TA3401) exist alongside this T04B38, fitted by machine line and build date. The engine model alone cannot tell you which one you have - the plate on the old unit can.

What comes in the box?
One T04B38 assembly with the mounting gaskets, foam-packed in a carton. If you need the oil feed line, inlet studs or flange nuts, send us the machine model and serial and we will quote them with the turbo.

What do I have to do before fitting it?
Change the oil and filter, check the feed line is clear and not coked, and make sure the drain is not restricted - a blocked drain pushes oil past the seals and is the fastest way to kill a new turbo. Prime at the oil inlet before the first start, clean the intake and charge pipes, and torque the flanges to the figures for your engine serial.

What does the 12-month warranty cover?
Manufacturing defects - bearing failure, seal failure, housing cracks and wheel damage not caused by installation or by an engine fault. Damage from oil starvation, a restricted drain, foreign object ingestion or over-speeding is not a manufacturing defect. Send the machine model, serial and photos of the plate and the failed part.
